Is Miami A Good Family Vacation Destination?

1 /2

After a year of being cooped up due to the Coronavirus quarantine, most of us – especially kids – are starting to go stir crazy! Luckily, the warm weather and abundance of safe, fun, outdoor attractions here in South Florida makes Miami the ideal place for a family vacation!

With mom and dad working remotely and the kids in Zoom school these days, any time is a good time for a change of scenery! Most people may think of Orlando and its myriad of theme parks when they think of Florida family vacation destinations, but there are plenty of fun activities for kids and adults alike right here in South Florida.

One of Miami’s greatest attractions is the miles and miles of white sandy beaches! The historic Art Deco district of Miami Beach, and its colorful lifeguard houses, provides a postcard perfect backdrop for family photos. When the kids are hungry and tired after splashing in the waves, take a walk down iconic Ocean Drive and grab a bite to eat and a fun souvenir at one of the many shops and restaurants lining the beachfront road.

On the mainland, Bayside Marketplace offers lots of family attractions as well. In addition to the open air mall with plenty of shopping and dining options, you can find live entertainment, a carousel and even a fully enclosed and air conditioned ferris wheel! From the Bayside Marina there are several sightseeing options available. Whether you prefer to charter a boat and explore the coastline at a leisurely pace, or get your pulse racing aboard the high-speed Thriller boat, there is something for everyone!

Located right on the MacArthur causeway – the road that connects the heart of Miami to the glitz and glamour of South Beach – families will find both the Miami Children’s Museum and Jungle Island. The littlest members of your family will delight in the hands-on exhibits at the Miami Children’s Museum and if they’re lucky they might even get a hug from the adorable mascot MiChiMu! Across the causeway, nature lovers will find a tranquil tropical refuge tucked away from Miami’s usual hustle and bustle at Jungle Island. Under a lush canopy of palm trees, kids will love to feed the parrots or pet a baby tiger, while parents can relax on the secluded private beach area with gorgeous views of Star Island.

If you’ve been staring at your own four walls for far too long and are in need of a change of scenery, look no further. No matter the type of family vacation you are searching for, Miami has something to meet your needs. So pack up the kids and the laptops and take remote learning and working to the next level!
